Welcome to Bumbles Café & The Blue House

Bumbles Café celebrating 25 Years!

Nestled away from the tourist strip in a quaint leafy street, Bumbles Café and The Blue House are reminiscent of the original Surfers Paradise.

Founded by Kate Madison, a Gold Coast Hospitality trailblazer since the 80s, Bumbles Café is renowned for sumptuous High Teas and Kate’s decadent cakes. For over two decades, locals and tourists alike have been enjoying our delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, tea, and cocktails while taking in the beautiful views of Budds Beach.

Bumbles Café, known simply as ‘Bumbles’, is many things to many people.

Nestled in the heart of Budds Beach, a short stroll from the heart of Surfers Paradise, Bumbles is a locals’ haven. They religiously visit most mornings to grab a paper, order their ‘usual’ from the barista, and plant themselves in their favourite spot amongst other familiar faces. Bumbles has become an extension of their own homes and kitchens.

For others, it is where they come on weekends to meet friends and have a catch-up while they tuck into their favourite breakfast. Some arrive by limousine, others by jetski, or moor their boat and row to shore, grabbing a takeaway picnic to enjoy later.

Bumbles is a labyrinth of interconnecting private dining nooks. On any given day you will find ladies enjoying High Tea, lawyers, accountants and real estate agents in suits holding meetings over a delicious lunch, film executives in private talks with actors and crew from around the world.

We’re renowned for glorious celebrations of all shapes and sizes. From bridal-showers, to weddings, to baby-showers, product launches, club gatherings, wrap parties, birthdays, anniversaries and more.

With a relaxed vintage vibe, Bumbles is all things delectable, delicious, decadent and divine. We look forward to welcoming you.

The Blue House is a little sophisticated beach shack with a subtle sprinkling of French style inspiration and relaxed elegance. Champagne flows, colourful cocktails catch the light as vintage glasses clink, icy cold beers refresh, and a masterful menu assures a satisfying feast.

The Blue House beckons from its leafy courtyard overlooking Budds Beach – the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks. Through the vintage glass double doors, you enter three open spaces wrapping around the kind of vintage bar where time stands still.

The Blue House offers the ideal setting, whether you envisage a formal dinner affair, a cocktail soirée, or a blend of both. We are renowned for our flexibility and tailor our menus and room configurations to suit your needs.

Joined by a delightful, spacious verandah, together Bumbles Café and The Blue House offer a stunningly unique wedding, special event, business meeting, and product launch venue.

From intimate private gatherings to more formal seated dining spanning your favourite rooms and spaces to magnificent cocktail functions for up to 200 guests throughout Bumbles and The Blue House, it’s definitely not the usual Gold Coast-style event venue.

Where Bumbles is quaint, The Blue House is quirky. Bumbles is eclectic, The Blue House is a little eccentric. They are a little nod to the “old Gold Coast” whilst being so “non Gold Coast”.
